Rules, deadlines, thematic tracks, formats, acceptance criteria and templates of the 3rd CIMESTEAM.
1. Submission rules and deadlines
- Each author must register in the event registration system.
- The paper must be submitted by the first author.
- Each author may submit up to 2 (two) academic papers.
- Papers must be submitted by the deadline stated on the event website.

2. Thematic tracks
At the time of submission, the author must indicate the thematic track the paper belongs to.

Track 1
Education and STEAM
Actions, experiences or teaching, research and outreach projects aimed at fostering the participation of girls, young people and women in STEAM fields; and/or at increasing the use of technologies, particularly information and communication technologies, that promote the empowerment of women (SDG 5-5.b); and/or that seek to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education (SDG 4).
Methodologies, methods and strategies to engage girls, young people and women in STEAM careers.

Track 2
Public policy in ST&I, Artificial Intelligence and STEAM
Public policies to strengthen innovative women-led entrepreneurship, focusing on local productive arrangements linked to technology institutes and centres for job and income generation; and/or on skills development programmes to attract and retain female talent in the country.
Women-led actions, research and case studies on the development and application of emerging technologies, with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), innovation and digital transformation; and/or on digital skills building, the ethical and responsible use of AI and greater female participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Actions, research and case studies on the articulation between universities, science and technology institutions, companies, startups and the public sector, on knowledge and technology transfer, on the creation of innovative businesses and on greater female participation in ST&I, innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

Track 3
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Actions, research and case studies on gender equality (SDG 5); and/or on ending violence against girls and women (SDG 5-5.2); and/or on the effective participation of women in leadership at all levels of decision making in political, economic and public life (SDG 5-5.5); and/or on strengthening women, diversity and inclusion in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Track 4
Entry, Retention and Progression of Women in STEAM Careers
Actions, research and case studies involving the role of companies in encouraging girls, young people and women in STEAM careers; and/or in leadership development and in supporting women in management positions (SDG 5-5.5.2).
Actions, research and case studies aimed at encouraging access to STEAM careers; and/or at supporting women in understanding career planning and development through activities with national and international partners; and/or at giving visibility to the work of women researchers, teachers, secondary students and postgraduates in order to support development and progression in STEAM careers.
3. Submission and publication formats
Academic papers may be submitted in two formats: Poster or Full Paper, following the templates and instructions available on the event website.
Poster
Ongoing work or research, as well as exploratory studies or studies with partial results. Accepted work must be presented in person, as a poster (following the official template), in the “Poster Presentations” of the Congress.
Full Paper
Work or research with conclusive results. Accepted papers must be presented in person, orally, in the “Technical Sessions” of the Congress, following the presentation guidelines set by the event. Publication in the event proceedings, with a DOI, is conditional on the paper being presented by at least one of the authors.
The times and rooms of the “Poster Presentations” and “Technical Sessions” will be announced in advance in the official programme.
4. Acceptance criteria
The Scientific Committee of the 3rd CIMESTEAM is made up of professors and researchers from different Brazilian institutions.
Review is double-blind, with no author identification for the reviewers. Two PDF files must be submitted: one with author identification and one anonymous (with no names, institutions, acknowledgements or any other information that could reveal authorship).
Stage 1 — Compliance check
The paper will first be checked to confirm that it:
- uses the corresponding official template, following the submission instructions;
- includes the two required files, with and without author identification.
Papers that do not meet the mandatory submission requirements and the official templates may be rejected before scientific review.
Stage 2 — Scientific review
Eligible papers will be assessed against the following criteria:
- aFit with the thematic track: match between the subject, objectives and results of the paper and the thematic track indicated at submission.
- bStructure and organisation: compliance with the structure set out in the relevant template, including abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, results and/or discussion, conclusions and references, as applicable to the format submitted.
- cQuality of the text: clarity, objectivity, correct language, coherence and cohesion.
- dTheoretical and technical consistency: suitability of the theoretical framework, coherence of the methodological design and consistency of the reasoning and analyses developed.
- eRelevance and reflection: importance and topicality of the subject, relevance of the analyses and the contribution of the paper to its context.
Citations and references must follow the rules stated in the specific instructions for each format.
